    Jim Metro

    Jim Metro was born in Lake County and raised in Cedar Lake. He has called the 6th District home all his life. He’s a graduate of Andrean High School in Merrillville and attended Purdue University Calumet where he studied Supervision and Human Relations. He also earned a certificate in Business Management.


    Jim’s father started Metro Excavating Corporation after being laid off from his job in construction. Today, Jim and his brother own and operate the family business in Cedar Lake.


    Jim is married to Terri Scheeringa Metro. They live in Cedar Lake with their four children. The family attends services at Holy Name Catholic Church.


    Jim is an active member of the community and is involved in several civic groups including: Lake County Planning Commission, Board of Directors for Grand Tots Day Care and Intergenerational Learning Center, Operating Engineers Local 150, Holy Name Church Finance Committee, Orak Shrine, Lake County Democrat Governing Board and National Rifle Association (NRA). He previously served on the Town of Cedar Lake Police Commission and the Cedar Lake Board of Zoning Appeals.
